Government is the seller, policy maker and the sole authority which provides permission to sell alcohol. Government frames the laws on alcohol – for consumption, regulation and prohibition.

As per the criminal records in Kerala, the root cause of the 60-70% of crimes can be traced back to alcohol and drug abuse. Long and disciplined queues seen in front of state-government-run foreign liquor predict a chaotic future. The  backbone of good governance, state’s valuable human resource, is getting destroyed by alcohol. It is the responsibility of the government to ensure that we do not have a ‘lost’ state. When governments deviate from their responsibility, either for pleasing liquor barons or for filling the state exchequer quickly, it becomes the duty of every citizen of this country to remind and persuade governments to take steps so as to ensure a ‘welfare’ State.

MADYAMUKTHI teams with NGOs and citizens to organise protests, picketing and satyagraha against government policies on alcohol proliferation.  Many a protest have won its cause or at least created an everlasting impression on individuals and society at large.

2. Provide de-addiction support for alcoholics
